ORIS AK41 vertically detachable towbar

Maximum stability in operation. No compromises in appearance.

The ORIS AK41 vertically detachable towbar is the premium solution for anyone who only uses a trailer, bike carrier or caravan when necessary and does not want a visible towbar on the vehicle for everyday use. With this system, the ball head is inserted into the mount from below and removed just as easily after use. This means that the towbar remains completely invisible and the vehicle's appearance remains unchanged.

  • Also ideal for heavy loads: Absolutely stable connection even for demanding transport tasks
  • Convenient operation: Insert ball head from below, lock automatically, remove again quickly
  • Original equipment quality: Developed with original equipment expertise for the highest safety standards
  • Optional FIX4BIKE® towbar: particularly convenient and safe transport of bicycles and e-bikes

Perfectly integrated. Invisible in everyday life.

The towbar that is only visible when it is needed.

Vertically detachable towbars such as the AK41 are inserted from below and, when dismantled, leave neither visible mounts nor disturbing cut-outs on the bumper. This means that the vehicle design remains unchanged - a decisive advantage over many other towbar systems where components remain permanently visible.

ORIS AK41 FIX4BIKE®

System recommended by the ADAC for bicycle transport

The ORIS AK41 vertically detachable towbar is also available as a FIX4BIKE® variant for many vehicle models. In combination with a FIX4BIKE® bicycle carrier, the system offers one of the most stable and secure solutions for bicycle and e-bike transport. It is locked by force and positive locking via two lateral pins on the ball neck: the FIX4BIKE® bike carrier is thus automatically fixed in the horizontal and vertical axis without additional alignment and offers the greatest possible safety in the event of emergency braking or an evasive manoeuvre. A concept that not only convinces users, but is also recommended by the ADAC.

Automatically locked. Securely connected.

Precise locking technology. Robust and durable.

The ball head of the ORIS AK41 locks automatically via a precise mechanism. This creates a backlash-free and heavy-duty connection between the vehicle and trailer. The technology of the ORIS AK41 is based on decades of experience from working with leading car manufacturers. An integrated lock function provides additional protection against unauthorised removal and increases safety in daily use.

Frequently asked questions about detachable towbars

Yes, there are vehicle-specific retrofit solutions for numerous vehicle models that are precisely matched to the bodywork, electronics and permissible loads. For example, the ORIS AK41. Installation is usually carried out by a specialist garage, which fits the towbar and integrates the wiring harness correctly into the vehicle electrical system.

The difference lies in the insertion direction and the visibility when dismantled. With horizontally detachable systems, the ball head is not inserted from below, but from the side; the mount often remains partially visible. Vertically detachable towbars such as the ORIS AK41 are considered to be particularly stable due to their design and are also suitable for higher support and trailer loads. Models such as the ORIS AK41 combine this high load capacity with unobtrusive integration into the vehicle design.

Vertically detachable towbars offer several decisive advantages: Without a ball head, the towbar usually remains completely invisible, preserving the vehicle's appearance. At the same time, they enable a very stable connection between the vehicle and trailer and are often designed for heavy loads. This makes them suitable for heavy trailers as well as for bike carriers with e-bikes. Systems such as the ORIS AK41 combine these properties with convenient operation and a high level of safety in daily use.

The ball head must be inserted before use, which requires an additional handle. It is also stored separately when it is not fitted. On the other hand, vehicle owners benefit from a completely invisible solution in everyday use and a high load capacity, so that this effort proves to be low for many users.

Modern towbars generally have European type approval (ECE). This means that no additional registration in the vehicle documents is usually necessary. The prerequisite is professional installation in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications, as is usual with vehicle-specific systems.

In principle, yes. The ball head may remain fitted as long as the licence plate, lights and sensors are not affected. However, many vehicle owners remove it when it is not needed, especially with vertically detachable systems such as the ORIS AK41, as these are completely invisible when dismantled.
