Detachable towbars from ORIS: Two systems, many options

Two variants are available depending on the vehicle model and requirements: Horizontally detachable towbars and vertically detachable towbars. Both systems offer a secure connection between vehicle and trailer[AB4.1] and are easy to fit or remove.

Vertically detachable towbar

ORIS AK41

If you only must tow heavier loads infrequently, you should opt for the ORIS AK41 vertically detachable towbar. With this system, the ball head is inserted into the mount from below and removed again at the bottom. The automatic 3-ball locking mechanism makes assembly and disassembly a breeze. A major advantage: with the ball head removed, the towbar is completely invisible. A lock on the ball bar also protects against theft. More Advantages of the vertically detachable towbar:
  • Invisible in everyday life
  • Also available as a FIX4BIKE® towbar
  • Also ideal for high support or trailer loads
  • Convenient, user-friendly operation
  • Original equipment safety and quality
  • Excellent price/performance ratio
  • For use with cars and light commercial vehicles, also with Park Distance Control (PDC)

Horizontally detachable towbar

ORIS AK4

The ORIS AK4 horizontally detachable towbar is the alternative to vertically detachable towbars. It is particularly suitable for cars with low ground clearance. The ORIS AK4 is particularly easy to use: with this system, the ball head is inserted horizontally into the towbar mount. A rotating mechanism activates the automatic locking mechanism and fixes the ball head securely in the system. Removing the towbar is just as easy: the locking mechanism is released and the ball head can be pulled out. The ball head can then be stored either in the boot or the garage. A lock on the locking mechanism protects the ball head against theft. More Advantages of the horizontally detachable towbar:
  • Particularly easy and convenient operation
  • Theft protection
  • High quality from the original equipment
  • Maximum safety
  • Excellent price/performance ratio

THE RIGHT TOWBAR FOR EVERYONE

Frequently asked questions about detachable towbars

Yes, vehicle-specific retrofit solutions are available for many vehicles. These are usually fitted by a specialist workshop and connected to the vehicle electronics.

No. The ball head can remain fitted if the towbar is used regularly. However, many drivers remove it in everyday life to preserve the vehicle's appearance.

In principle, yes. The ball head can remain fitted as long as the towbar does not cover the licence plate or lights. However, many drivers remove it when it is not needed.

Modern towbars have European type approval. In many cases, no additional registration is therefore required. However, installation should always be carried out by a specialist workshop.

The only "disadvantage" is that the ball head must be inserted into the towbar mount in order to use it. On the other hand, detachable towbars offer the advantage that the towbar remains almost invisible in everyday life.
