ORIS: SO YOU CAN TRANSPORT YOUR HORSE SAFELY TO ITS DESTINATION

Whether it is a riding tournament, a hack, a change of stable, training or a trip to the veterinary clinic: anyone who wants to transport horses flexibly and responsibly needs a reliable solution for trailer operation. Many journeys do not start at the riding arena, the tournament ground or the stable. They begin on the road, with the horse trailer connected to the vehicle.

ORIS towbars provide the right connection for this. They enable the safe transport of horse trailers and help make equestrian sport, leisure riding and professional horse keeping more flexible.

Safe horse transport with ORIS

For the stable, tournament, hack and veterinary clinic: towbars for horse transport

The horse is ready, the trailer is prepared and the destination is planned. But before you set off for a tournament, training session, pasture, new stable or veterinary appointment, the horse needs to be transported safely to where it is needed.

This is exactly where the towbar becomes an important part of responsible transport. It reliably connects the vehicle and horse trailer and makes it possible to transport horses flexibly and predictably. This means equestrian sport is not limited to one fixed location, but becomes mobile.

With an ORIS towbar, riders, horse owners and professional businesses can use their vehicle specifically for transporting horse trailers. Matched to the respective vehicle, the permitted towing capacity and the individual area of use.

ORIS towbars stand out for high safety and reliability

When transporting a horse, high forces act on the vehicle, towbar and trailer. Starting, braking, steering, manoeuvring in narrow yards or reversing along the stable lane place special demands on the connection between towing vehicle and horse trailer.

There is also one key difference compared with many other transport tasks: there is a living animal in the trailer. A horse moves, shifts its weight and reacts to driving manoeuvres, noises and road conditions. That is why the connection between vehicle and trailer must be particularly reliable, strong and safe.

ORIS develops towbars for numerous vehicle models and different areas of use. Depending on the vehicle and application, fixed towbars, detachable towbars or fully electrically swivelling towbars are available.

For horse transport, this means that the towbar must do more than simply function. It must match the vehicle, lock securely and be reliable in everyday use. This is exactly what ORIS stands for, with many years of experience in the development and production of high-quality towbar systems and towbars for every area of use.

The right towbar for your horse trailer

Anyone who regularly travels with a horse trailer places different demands on their vehicle than someone who only uses a towbar occasionally. That is why ORIS offers different systems for different requirements.

A fixed towbar is particularly practical when it is used frequently and needs to be permanently ready for use. A detachable towbar is suitable for anyone who wants to use their vehicle in everyday life without a visible towbar neck. For applications where comfort is especially important, fully electrically swivelling systems can be an interesting solution.

What always matters is this: the towbar must match the vehicle and be suitable for the permitted towing capacity. Especially when transporting horses, the vehicle, horse trailer, nose weight and total weight should be carefully coordinated.

Important figures before travelling with a horse trailer

Before every journey with a horse trailer, it is worth taking a close look at the permitted weights. The most important basis is the towing capacity of the towing vehicle. It defines the maximum permitted weight of the trailer including its load. The relevant value can be found in the vehicle registration certificate.

The decisive factor is not the empty weight of the trailer, but the actual weight when loaded. In horse transport, the weight of the trailer is supplemented by the horse or horses, saddlery, feed, water, grooming equipment and other accessories. This can quickly turn a seemingly uncritical journey into a vehicle and trailer combination that is closer to the permitted limit than expected.

In addition to towing capacity, nose weight plays a central role. It describes the force with which the trailer drawbar presses down on the towball of the towbar. Depending on the vehicle and towbar, this value is often between 50 and 100 kilograms. However, the specifications of the towing vehicle, towbar and horse trailer are always binding.

In practice, this means that the highest value is not what counts. The lowest permitted value within the entire vehicle and trailer combination defines the limit that must not be exceeded. Correctly adjusted nose weight improves driving stability and helps ensure that vehicle and trailer work cleanly together.

This is particularly important when transporting horses. A horse does not stand rigidly in the trailer. It reacts to braking, bends, bumps and road irregularities. That makes a reliable connection between towing vehicle and horse trailer all the more important. A correctly selected ORIS towbar supports exactly this safe connection and provides the technical basis for controlled horse transport.

Quality and safety at OE level

With decades of experience, ORIS develops towbars in close cooperation with leading vehicle manufacturers and consistently transfers this know-how into retrofit solutions. The design is based not only on the vehicle manufacturers' load specifications, but also on the original mounting points.

This ensures both a perfect fit and high load capacity, as well as safe integration into the vehicle. Extensive testing programmes guarantee that the systems function reliably even under demanding conditions and meet the high quality requirements of modern vehicles.

This safety is especially important when transporting horses. Because here it is not only about vehicle technology, but also about responsibility for a valuable and sensitive animal. A high-quality towbar helps ensure that vehicle and horse trailer form a reliable unit.
