FIX4BIKE®: Ingenious adapter system for bike carriers
Attaching bicycle carriers has never been so easy and secure.
FIX4BIKE® is the system developed and patented by ORIS for the particularly safe and exceptionally convenient transport of bicycles and e-bikes. The unbeatable combination of the FIX4BIKE® towbar and a FIX4BIKE® bike carrier with the patented FIX4BIKE® mounting creates a perfectly coordinated system for particularly simple and precise handling.
Unlike conventional solutions, FIX4BIKE® does not rely solely on clamping onto the ball head, but on a clearly defined, form-fitting connection between the towbar and the bike carrier. This ensures the carrier positions itself correctly automatically and locks securely in place with just one simple movement.
Ingenious system for bike transport
FIX4BIKE® is a game-changer – with a crucial difference compared to many conventional solutions for bike transport. Whilst traditional systems secure the bike carrier to the ball head via friction, FIX4BIKE® relies on a form-fit based locking.
The two additional pins on the ball neck of the FIX4BIKE® towbar ensure that the carrier sits in a precisely defined position. The forces exerted are thus not only transmitted via the ball, but are specifically channelled into the structure. This increases stability and prevents the carrier from twisting or slipping.
Simply attach. Click. Done.
With conventional bike carriers, the position on the ball head often has to be aligned manually and then secured. This requires strength, experience and often several attempts until the carrier is correctly positioned.
FIX4BIKE® takes a different approach. The carrier is placed on the ball head, self-aligning to a stable position and locks with an audible ‘click’. No additional alignment is necessary. This makes installation significantly easier and reliably consistent.
Safety and stability even in demanding situations
Thanks to the form-fitting connection, the bike carrier remains stable even under load. Even during emergency braking or evasive manoeuvres, the position remains unchanged.
The system reduces the typical uncertainties associated with traditional clamping solutions and ensures that the connection between the vehicle and the bike carrier remains permanently reliable. This clear, defined fixation is a decisive advantage in everyday use.
Growing popularity, maximum flexibility
Already today, almost one in four new vehicles with a factory-fitted tow bar is delivered with a FIX4BIKE® tow bar – and the trend is rising. In the aftermarket too, more and more FIX4BIKE® tow bars are being retrofitted.
A major advantage of FIX4BIKE® lies in its compatibility. Vehicles with a FIX4BIKE® towbar can still be used without restriction with classic trailers and conventional carrier systems.
System recommended by motoring organisations such as the ADAC for bicycle transport
FIX4BIKE® has won over independent motoring clubs such as the ADAC in Germany and the TCS in Switzerland. In its major 2025 bike carrier comparison test, for example, the ADAC attested that the FIX4BIKE® system had by far the “easiest installation” of all those tested. The TCS took a similar view: “Overall, all products for the FIX4BIKE® towbar were impressive. This was due to the extremely simple installation on the towbar, as well as the easy-to-use folding mechanisms.”
The ORIS TRACC FIX4BIKE® bike carrier is also praised for the ease with which the carrier can be mounted on the towbar, and it is emphasised that with this system, “hardly any risk of incorrect assembly”.
FIX4BIKE®: Safety made simple
With FIX4BIKE®, what is often a fiddly installation process becomes a precise, clearly defined procedure. The system reduces the effort required to a minimum, eliminates uncertainties during fitting and ensures a reliably secure connection – every time. Instead of readjustment, a clear click is all that is needed. The result is a noticeable improvement in ease of use, stability and confidence whilst riding.

Frequently asked questions about the FIX4BIKE® system
FIX4BIKE® is a mounting system for bike carriers developed by ORIS. It consists of the combination of the FIX4BIKE® bike carrier and the FIX4BIKE® towbar, ensuring self-aligning installation and a form-fitting connection between the carrier and the towbar.
The main difference lies in the connection technology. Whilst traditional systems rely on a friction fit, FIX4BIKE® uses a positive-lock mechanism via additional pins, known as FIX4BIKE®. This ensures a precise and secure connection.
The bike carrier is placed onto the towbar and automatically locks into the correct position. An audible click confirms that it is securely locked.
The form-fitting connection ensures a defined position and prevents slipping or twisting. This keeps the carrier stable even under load.
Yes. FIX4BIKE® towbars are fully compatible with conventional trailers and carrier systems. There are no restrictions in everyday use.
A FIX4BIKE® towbar features two side pins on the ball neck. These serve as the central connecting elements for the system.
For anyone who values ease of use, quick installation and maximum safety when transporting a bike. The system really comes into its own with heavy e-bikes.
Positive locking means that two components are connected not by friction, but by their geometric shape. In the FIX4BIKE® system, the connection between the bike carrier and the towbar is made via two additional pins on the ball neck. These ensure that the carrier locks into a precisely defined position. Unlike traditional clamping systems, this prevents the carrier from twisting or shifting, as the forces are transmitted directly via the components rather than via friction.
FIX4BIKE® is used as original equipment by numerous car manufacturers. These include brands such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Volvo, Škoda, Peugeot, Opel and Tesla. The system is also increasingly being used by other manufacturers and model ranges. Overall, it is clear that FIX4BIKE® is becoming increasingly established as the standard solution for modern towbars.
FIX4BIKE® was developed and brought to market by ORIS, the product brand of ACPS Automotive. The technology was first unveiled as a world premiere at the IAA in 2015, making it a relatively new but purpose-built solution for connecting the towbar to the bike carrier. FIX4BIKE® is therefore not based on third-party technology or a supplier solution, but is an in-house development specifically designed to address the weaknesses of traditional clamping systems.
Yes. FIX4BIKE® towbars are also available as retrofit kits for many vehicles. Installation is usually carried out by a specialist workshop, which handles both the mechanical fitting and the integration into the vehicle’s electronics. This means the system can also be used on existing vehicles and integrated into everyday use at a later date.
